The KahBang Festival is a five-day showcase of what’s now and what’s next in music, art, and film. Every August KahBang makes Bangor, Maine the place to be. This year the festival will take place on August 9th-12th. KahBang is looking for up-and-coming acts, as well as national acts to showcase in venues throughout the city, including the festival stages. At least 30 artists will be selected via Sonicbids. Previous showcase acts include My Morning Jacket, Lupe Fiasco, B.o.B., Chromeo, Atmosphere, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, OK Go, Biz Markee, Surfer Blood, Matt & Kim, Ra Ra Riot, Ida Maria, and Sonicbids members, Atomic Tom and Filligar amongst many others.
Compensation varies, however all bands can anticipate festival passes, the opportunity to sell merchandise, and assistance with food and lodging. Interested artists are encouraged to submit, from anywhere and from any genre, signed or unsigned; bands are selected to showcase individually and as support for national acts. Previous live performance experience is preferred, but is not required. Marketing tools such as MySpace, YouTube, a demo or EP, and website are taken in to consideration, as it helps us market you to our audience. Come network, participate and enjoy one of the most unique and intimate festivals in the country, where artists, fans and industry representatives come together to discover the next.

You know what Chuck Norris thinks about the Mayan Calendar? He doesn't.
But just in case he is wrong - KahBang is throwing the biggest party since we survived Y2K. If we're going out, we want to go out with a bang. That means we are taking it to extremes; more action, more excess, and a little more cowbell.
The KahBang Film Festival is one portion of the KahBang Music | Art | Film Festival, happening this August 9th - 12th 2012, in Bangor, Maine. KahBang is a discovery festival showcasing "the next" in the art and entertainment world. The KahBang Music Festival has previously hosted such acts as My Morning Jacket, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Lupe Fiasco, Ra Ra Riot and B.o.B
The KahBang Film Festival is 4 days of films that we think are cool. Our Out of Competition film categories include a "So Bad It's Good" Category featuring the best in B-Movies and a tribute category to Christopher Walken.
In Competition Categories celebrate emerging feature filmmakers, music docs, music videos and more.
Going into its 4th year, the KahBang Music|Art|Film Festival is now calling for submissions to its 2012 Festival. The final deadline for submission is June 1st, 2012.
This year we are going to party like the earth is falling away behind us in our rear view and Cusack is at the wheel. And I don't mean the talented Cusack. See you in August.

• Music Docs Documentary + rockers that rock(ed) = some of the most interesting filmmaking we have ever seen. If you made such a film, about a musician or musicians, or the musicians industry - feel free to submit it. No fatties please.
• Music Videos: The Category In 1981 video killed the radio star, yet, in a surprise twist, was acquitted of all charges when it was realized that nobody cared. Decades later KahBang offers a category devoted solely to honor the brilliance that is Music Videos. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their work and have the rights to the music – or else the filmmaker may be labeled an infringer, and punished for infringing.
In addition, KahBang is also proud to announce that it in 2012, the Festival will host the new Ed Wood 48-Hour Filmmaking Competition, where filmmakers are challenged to make the worst film possible within a 48-hour period.
