If you would like to submit your film(s), please print off the 2010 KahBang Film Festival Submission Form, and fill in the information as specifically as you can, or proceed to Withoutabox by clicking on the image below. The KahBang Film Festival accepts films of many types, U.S. and International. Film types are Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, and Short Films (narrative, experimental, music video, etc.) Please read all information thoroughly before submitting your film(s) and thank you for your interest, we look forward to all films!

SUBMISSION DEADLINES

EARLY SUBMISSION DEADLINE

Feature = Narrative and Documentary
Short = any film type less than 50 minutes


Earlybird Deadline: March 17th
Feature: $20 USD WAB: $15 USD
Short: $15 USD WAB: $10 USD

Regular Deadline: April 17th
Feature: $25 USD WAB: $20 USD
Short: $20 USD WAB: $15 USD

Late Deadline: May 17th
Feature: $30 USD WAB: $25 USD
Short: $25 USD WAB: $20 USD

WAB Extended Deadline: June 7th
Feature: $45 USD WAB: $30 USD
Short: $40 USD WAB: $25 USD

Films MUST be postmarked no later than the final submission date of June 7th, please make sure you send your film(s) as soon as possible so they will not arrive late. Films postmarked after June 7th will not be considered. All films are judged equally and in the same manor, regardless of when they arrive before June 7th. NOTE,- Please make sure the correct amount of money is sent with your submission, according to type of film and deadline for which you are submitting.

FILM FESTIVAL SCREENING CATEGORIES

Some films will be screened in specific categories during the 2010 KahBang Film Festival. When filling out your submission form, please make sure you select the 1 category that your film should be considered for. Those categories are:

GEN-NEXT: These feature films are created by up and coming filmmakers. Essentially it is one of your first major works accepted to a film festival. The KahBang Film Festival strives for the discovery of promising new filmmakers that are the future of independent cinema.

Entries accepted in this category will be considered for the following awards: The Gen-Next Award (Best Emerging Filmmaker, The KahBang Audience Award (Best Overall Film) and, The Big Bang Award (Best Narrative Feature)


PERSPECTIVE: Films that we select of the Documentary style of filmmaking. Selected documentaries in this category will have a running time of MORE than 50 minutes.

Entries accepted in this category will be considered for the following awards: The Perspective Award (Best Documentary Feature), and The KahBang Audience Award (Best Overall Film)


SHORT CUTS: All short films that are selected for screening. Short films continue to include some of the most experimental ideas, allowing filmmakers to test traditional storytelling techniques and create a focused and unique product. Shorts will have a total running time of LESS than 50 minutes, and can be of any film genre or type.

Entries accepted in this category will be considered for the following awards: The Short Cuts Award (Best Short Film), and The KahBang Audience Award (Best Overall Film)


FIRST TAKE: Narrative Feature films marked as “U.S. Premiere” on your submission form will be considered for the First Take category.

Entries accepted in this category will be considered for the following awards: The Big Bang Award (Best Narrative Feature), and The KahBang Audience Award (Best Overall Film)


PERSISTENCE OF VISION: These films will be screened in our “Expansion” forum, a center for unique creative arts. These films will include experimental elements and unique themes.

Entries accepted in this category will not be considered for any awards.


MAINE ON MAINE: This section is for you Mainers. Here we will screen the best and most creative films created by Maine filmmakers.

Entries accepted in this category will be considered for the following awards: The KahBang Audience Award (Best Overall Film), and The Big Bang Award (Best Narrative Feature)


***NOTE: When registering for the KahBang Film Festival, each film submission will be for 1 category only. If you would like to submit multiple films for multiple categories, please do separate submissions for each. All films must have been completed no earlier than October 2009.

FESTIVAL AWARDS

Five award prizes will be given out at this year's festival, and they are:
